Made by Afous was born in 2016 as a collaboration between myself, Daniela Gallenti, and artisans in Morocco.  I wanted to share my passion for travel, design and unique items. 

I am curious and fascinated by other cultures, their crafts and their skills, the incredible nature and inspiring people I meet on my search for wonders. On my first trip to Morocco, I was enchanted by its beautiful textiles, culture and people. I couldn't resist bringing home a small collection of vintage rugs, each one telling a unique story woven with history, culture, and incredible craftsmanship. The vibrant colours, the geometric patterns, the abstract symbols woven into the fabrics since prehistoric times — I found them all fascinating. Now, Made by Afous also creates original designs, working closely with artisans around the world. I enjoy the connection with the maker. I love the creative process which then leads the artisan and designer to build a strong bond. Handmade products are often unique, one of a kind and beautiful in their imperfections.

Authenticity and timeless style are values that are essential in my work. My style consists in crossing borders to exchange with exceptional individuals. From these experiences and exchanges, a modern mindset emerges from traditions. 

Why Afous? It’s a Berber word which means ‘hand’. Hands for me symbolise humanity, cooperation and handicraft.

Now, I want to share my experience of Morocco with others by organising tours to the region, allowing others to immerse themselves in the daily life of the Berbers, learn directly from skilled artisans, and appreciate the beauty of this landscape and culture.
